In addition to the work that we are sponsoring at numerous institutions, we have an interest in developing a signature specific vaccine for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma respectively. We have been watching with interest the work that is being done by the University of Florida, in the area of Glioblastoma. They are developing a mRNA vaccine which as we know was very effective during COVID-19. Its use for induction of therapeutic cancer immunotherapy remains limited due to poor antigenic tumor targets and a regulated tumor microenvironment that suppresses immune activation. To overcome these limitations, UF has developed a new mRNA platform. Their approach utilizes mRNA wrapped into onion-like multi-lamellar clusters to elicit near immediate innate and adaptive immune responses. It is anticipated that an immunogenic response will occur from a developed SDHB mini-gene mRNA vaccine. Once developed, this vaccine will be tested in animal model systems associated metastatic disease.
